BUSTER KEATON'S SHERLOCK JR.
AND COPS
LIVE SOUNDTRACK BY MAGNETIX

The Buster Keaton silent comedy movie, "Sherlock Jr." preceded by "Cops" was screened at Grand Performances in Los Angeles with a live improvised soundtrack from Bordeaux band, Magnetix.

Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. is 45 minutes of mind-boggling comic inspiration. In this silent masterpiece, Buster plays a movie projectionist, framed by a romantic rival for a crime, who falls asleep in his booth and in his reverie walks into the movie he's projecting, where he encounters one cinematic peril after another. (Woody Allen borrowed the conceit and reversed it in The Purple Rose of Cairo.) This marvel of surreal slapstick will be shown with Keaton's hilarious short Cops (which offers wonderful glimpses of 1920s L.A.).

Both films were accompanied live by the French garage rockers Magnetix, who have composed an original score just for this outdoor screening at California Plaza.

This event is part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of the Los Angeles-Bordeaux Sister Cities program.
